Today, April 7th, marks a significant day chosen by the World Health Organization to be World Health Day. This year's theme, "My health, my right," highlights a crucial message, reminding us of the millions around the world lacking basic health necessities such as safe drinking water and proper nutrition. But the campaign goes beyond these fundamental needs. It also brings attention to the psychological impact of ongoing conflicts, whether they be blatant wars or covert social violence, which devastate the mental and emotional well-being of a vast majority.

However, while it is undeniably the government's duty to provide resources ensuring the welfare and availability of health services, the WHO initiative urges a deeper personal involvement. In essence, it is not just "my health, my right," but also "my duty." Access to a safe environment obligates us to take control of our lives and become proactive in caring for our bodies in all aspects.

This empowerment to make decisions about our health comes with the responsibility for those choices. Many shy away from this power, finding comfort in relinquishing their freedom and adopting a passive role in their own lives. But embracing this agency, although daunting, is crucial. Once we accept this role, we can no longer blame others for our challenges.

Health is a continuous process, demanding persistence and the development of new, conscious habits. This journey is not straightforward; it is filled with highs and lows. But maintaining focus and nurturing our bodies daily leads to increased vitality. This energy not only benefits us personally but also reflects our commitment to the world.

By establishing this inner commitment, we raise our consciousness and enhance our ability to serve others. It fosters accountability for preserving nature and initiates a chain reaction towards a healthier world. In conclusion, World Health Day is more than a reminder of our rights; it's a call to action for each individual to assume responsibility for their health and, by extension, the health of our planet.
