Samba
Brazil 's national dance comes in a variety of forms, all based around the 2/4 rhythm with 3 steps for measure. As a solo dance, Samba no pé, it has achieved worldwide fame and recognition through the glittering Rio Carnaval. In contrast, Samba de Gafieira is a partner dance which many see as a combination of Waltz and Tango.
Forró
“Forró” (”foh-ho”), the Brazilian way of saying “for all” – is a dance for everyone! This sensual and upbeat partner dance comes from Northeastern Brazil . Forró vocabulary includes causal turns, sexy pauses and spins, which can be executed even on a crowded social dance floor. The dance celebrates the unique Brazilian cultural identity, and its smooth partnerwork danced to catchy rhythms have won fans all over the world!
Capoeira
A blend of martial arts, games and dance Capoeira was created and developed by slaves brought over from Africa to Brazil . Participants form a circle and take turns playing musical instruments, singing and sparring in pairs in the centre of the circle. Don't be shy…our local Capoeira group will show you how it's done.
